loooong weekend

i cannot even begin to explain how grateful i am for the four day weekend i just had. i soooo needed it. and it was full of great fun, too! friday was spent sleeping waayyyy too late, having eggs for breakfast (although i'm pretty sure it was past lunchtime!) and checking out a local exhibitionsaturday involved another lovely sleep in, french toast and a walk along the river to richmond. and we topped it off with a super tasty (and cheap!) late lunch at love food cafesunday was made up of a visit from the easter bunny, dyed eggs, cupcakes and a lovely lunch outand then monday we braved the revolting weather to visit the natural history museum. though the zillions of children everywhere kinda put a damper on that one. but we'll be sure to go back another time because what we did get to see was really interesting! all in all a fab weekend, really. it is safe to say i do not want to get back into work! oh well ... only four days til the next weekend!

easter cupcakes

happy easter!
some time just before midnight last night i decided i wanted to bake an easter themed treat. so i decided on these vanilla cupcakes with raspberry filling and thought i'd just decorate them with speckled eggs. i'm not entirely sure where i went wrong, but somehow i manage to stuff them up royally. so in the wee hours of this morning, i threw that batch in the bin and decided to pick myself up, brush myself off and start again. i ended up using this trusty bbc recipe and just did the raspberry filling from the initial one. and they turned out great! i kinda didn't want to eat them coz they looked so cute. but i did. and guess what?! they went down an absolute treat!

harvey

i miss my cat.
as much as technology is brilliant for making you feel not so far away from home, it doesn't really help with the whole hanging out with your pets thing.
lame, lame, lame.

chinatown

last week i visited chinatown to celebrate the fourth birthday of the lovely little miss that i nanny. we had a lovely time wandering the streets and spotting all of the cute cats in the windows! lunch was at wong kei, which was really affordable and all of the food was pretty tasty. we had prawn toast, vegetarian spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken, prawn fried noodles and noodle soup with vegetables. and i'm pleased to report that my chopstick skills are totally improving! AND on our way home we bought fortune cookies, pop tarts and marshmallow fluff from a chinese supermarket! exciting!
