notting hill carnival

yesterday i went to the notting hill carnival. i'd heard lots of good things so i was pretty keen to check it out. i did have fun, although to be honest it wasn't really my cup of tea. but hey, that's another thing i can tick off my (non-existent) london list!

Sunday 26 August 2012

this is london.

so, samuel johnson reckons "when a man is tired of london, he is tired of life." and as much as i absolutely cannot stand that quote, it is kinda true. london has everything. but i am so so so sick of london. don't get me wrong, i love the shit out of this place. but sometimes (read: a hell of a lot of the time) i feel like i can't deal with london for much longer. working and being poor and not seeing and doing enough is really getting to me. so i have decided to take action. i've quit my job (cue being even poorer) and i'm taking a few weeks off to explore and make the most of london. and other parts of england, for that matter. coz deep down i don't want to leave london just yet.

ps. photos taken on an open top bus tour. which was freaking awesome. see, i do love london, really.

pps. apologies for the nonsensical rambling.

saatchi gallery

sorry, i went missing again for a bit there. i have lots of exciting things to post coming up, but in the meantime here are some pics from when rudi and i visited the saatchi gallery a couple of weeks ago. i'd been wanting to check it out for some time and it was definitely worth waiting for!

mile end floating market

whilst wandering around this afternoon trying to find a photography exhibition (which turned out to be pretty average), i stumbled upon this floating market. it was cool-as-hell! and especially exciting given that it's only on for a limited time before it floats away. is it absurd that it made me want to have my own market stall on a boat?!

anyway, on a kinda unrelated note, as i continued along the river i just had to capture this super impressive reflection!

the chelsea teapot

this place is an absolute gem. from the adorable decor and shelves full of pretty tea cups down to the little jam pots on each table, it is a gloriously cozy and cute place to be. and the food ain't too bad either! but seriously, those cakes are to die for.

summer nights

cheese, wine and good company. definitely my favourite way to spend a beautiful summer evening. because hey, let's face it, we don't get many of them here in london.

moosh

i stumbled upon moosh one day and promptly dragged my lovely friend paola along to try it out. i had a banana smoothie and scrambled eggs with salmon and avocado, both of which were scrummy yummy. paola's frozen yoghurt with blueberries, seeds and honey was pretty tasty too! and i must mention how much i love love love that you get a banana with your table number on it!

pimms love

i know i post a lot of pictures of pimms and lemonade. but this one (from the chelsea ram) was too pretty to leave out. especially seeing as it was a sunny day. and that doesn't happen very often at all!

the big roof top tea and golf party

i'm just gunna put it out there - i would have to be one of the least romantic people to ever hit the face of the planet. BUT the other week, somehow something in me had a moment and decided to plan a surprise date. mini golf. yes, hardly romantic. but we had been talking about doing it for aaaaagggeesss ... and this isn't just any old mini golf, it is THE big roof top tea and golf party at selfridges. and it was sooooo much fun. though my mini golfing skills were pretty, pretty rubbish. and the food! i'd heard lots of good things about the daylesford cafes so i was very much looking forward to trying for myself. and it did not disappoint. i cannot rave enough about the entire experience. it was fan-bloody-tastic!
