there's just something about these beautiful sunny days that has me craving fruit ALL the time. strawberries, oranges and this easy peasy (and healthy!) banana ice cream. yummo!
this weekend was a good one. plenty of sunshine, lunch at the lighthouse, a stroll around battersea park, play tea parties ... and real ones too. oh, and i also dressed as a fairy and entertained a bunch of four year olds for a birthday party. but no one really needs to see that!
just a few snaps from our thursday night date at look mum no hands. i was bummed i couldn't get any photos of the inside, but they were hosting a special event and it was a case of there being waaayyyy too many people in there. great coffee, yummy pies and salads and a really cool, laid back atmosphere.
i know a cemetery is a kinda weird thing to photograph, but a couple of weeks ago i walked past on a sunny day and couldn't help but notice how pretty it was. and both the cemetery and church are no longer used ... so it isn't THAT strange ... is it?
i finally finished my first knitting project ever. a scarf. a 'welcome to london' gift for rudi (you can see the happy recipient here). and i'm surprisingly pleased with the results.
both of my grandmothers taught me to knit when i was much younger. but i'd always get bored after a few rows. however once i'd settled in london i decided i needed a hobby, and preferably one that i could go to a group for and therefore use as a way to meet some people. so i thought i'd give knitting another shot. a scarf seemed like a good idea so i just invented my own pattern - knit one row, purl one row. pretty basic really. although it definitely wasn't easy to begin with. and i totally contemplated giving up.
but once i got into it, i absolutely loved it. and it got much, much easier. and i don't need to go to a group, to be honest. i am most content just sitting quietly, knitting away. best stress buster ever.
so saturday was THE day. my lovely boy is finally here! we had a fab lazy weekend filled with pressies, little picnics indoors, chilli, wandering around and lots of snuggles. and we got to catch up with some of my relatives who were in london for the weekend! it was pretty close to perfect. i couldn't be happier.
last night one of my girlfriends hosted a "come dine with me" style dinner party. though we ended up getting too carried away with girly chat so we forgot to rate the night. so i guess it was just a regular dinner party instead. but loads of fun. funniest part of the night was trying to get the smoke alarm to stop. turned out a candle lit a plant alight ... not ideal. but good food, great company ... what more can i say?
i saw this roasted vegetable pasta the other day and i couldn't stop thinking about it. so with a whole bunch of veggies in the fridge that needed using, i decided to give it a crack. i used butternut squash, onion, zucchini, red capsicum and tomato. i may or may not have forgotten about the herb part. although i did use lots of salt and pepper and olive oil. so it still turned out deeeeelicious! but next time i'll definitely remember the herbs ... well i'll try anyway!
three things putting a smile on my dial this week: the latest issue of oh comely spring tea with lemon and honey ... takes you from walking disease to full of life in record time!
i would have to say that one of my favourite things about london is the london eye. i love walking around a corner and BAM, there it is! it makes me hyperventilate a little and go "oh my gosh, i totally live in london!" and yes, i know, i am a massive dag!
