brixton // hive

a couple of weeks ago rudi and i went to brixton to check out the market and search for somewhere cool to get some food ... just for something different! we stumbled across hive bar and restaurant, which i personally thought was more like a cafe. regardless of what it was called, it was the perfect place to just chill and have a lazy breaky/lunch/drink/whatever! although the service was pretty average, the food was great. their burgers were amazing - especially the one with blue cheese!

dinner date

last friday night we went out for dinner. it had been ages since we'd eaten out together so it was really lovely. we had planned on going to the pub but spotted some delicious-looking noodles through the window of this place and couldn't resist! the service was pretty rubbish and the food was average but we had such a nice time. just goes to show all you really need is good company!

franco manca

i had heard so many good things about franco manca and last week i finally got to check it out. well the reviews were spot on! the sourdough pizza was AMAZING ... and super cheap too! and the service was outstanding. and the organic lemonade! and the coffee ... i cant even explain how luxurious it was ... and i am pretty freaking snobby about my coffee! anyway, this place was like heaven. and yes, i'm aware i perhaps have a little too much enthusiasm for this place. but it really was that good.

chinatown

last week i visited chinatown to celebrate the fourth birthday of the lovely little miss that i nanny. we had a lovely time wandering the streets and spotting all of the cute cats in the windows! lunch was at wong kei, which was really affordable and all of the food was pretty tasty. we had prawn toast, vegetarian spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken, prawn fried noodles and noodle soup with vegetables. and i'm pleased to report that my chopstick skills are totally improving! AND on our way home we bought fortune cookies, pop tarts and marshmallow fluff from a chinese supermarket! exciting!
